In February 1997, the introduction of a new A6 (Typ 4B), based on a new design automobile platform – the Volkswagen Group C5 platform, with a new range of engines was announced and appeared in March at the 1997 Geneva Motor Show. This new A6 moved up a notch in quality, and was marketed in the same categories as the BMW 5 Series and the Mercedes-Benz E-Class. In 2000 and 2001, the "C5" A6 was on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list. This new A6 was available with a wide range of engines and configurations. The 30-valve 2.4- and 2.8-litre V6 engines represented the bulk of the A6's development programme, with a multitude of other engine configurations available throughout the globe. As an alternative to the manual transmission, a five-speed tiptronic automatic transmission was also available. North American C5 A6 models received the 2.8-litre, 30-valve V6 engine, the 2.7-litre "biturbo" V6 (also found in the B5 platform S4, 250 PS (180 kW; 250 hp)), and the 4.2-litre 40-valve V8 petrol engine (300 PS (220 kW; 300 hp)); the two higher-spec. engines were only offered with quattro permanent four-wheel drive. The second-generation A6 was on Car and Driver magazine's Ten Best list for 2000 and 2001. The updated 2005 A6 won the World Car of the Year award for 2005. In addition, the facelifted third-generation A6 3.0T won two Car and Driver "comparos" that pitted it against other sedans like BMW 5 Series, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Jaguar XF, and Infinti M. Derived from the Audi C5 S6 (itself derived from the Audi C5 A6), the RS 6 also shares the aluminium structure from the firewall and forward with the C5 A6s with V8 engines (A6 4.2 V8 Quattro, S6 saloon/Avant). It was manufactured from July 2002 through to September 2004. Official performance figures for the Avant, whilst consuming the recommended high octane 98 RON "Super Plus" unleaded petrol indicate the 0-100 kilometres per hour (62.1 mph) dash would be completed in 4.6 seconds (s), reaching 200 km/h (124.3 mph) in 22.8 seconds (22.6 s for the saloon). Official figures state an electronically limited top speed of 250 km/h (155.3 mph), although most "RS" owners report that the speed limiter is rather liberal on all RS cars, with genuine 'limited' top speeds of 270 km/h (167.8 mph) being possible to achieve. Using a lower octane-rated petrol, such as the standard 95 RON "Premium" unleaded will reduce the engine power output, and have logical reduction in performance. Luggage capacity, measured according to the VDA block method in the Avant ranges from 455 litres (16.07 cu ft), to 1,590 litres (56.15 cu ft) with the rear seats folded down. For the saloon, the boot holds 424 litres (14.97 cu ft).

It is a sad day for me. I have decided to let my beloved 1997 Audi A6 C5 2.4L V6 Manual I have owned since April 2014 go. I got involved in an accident in February 2021 which damaged it seriously enough. Not my fault! I got cheated and the whole thing was ruled to be my fault. I hired a sort of attorney to fight the case but he was a scammer. The car ended up sitting in place for more than two years. At first I wanted to fix it but today I have decided after thinking well to part ways with it. It was a difficult decision. I will miss this car!

Tadında modifiyelere sahip olan bu araç v6 motor yapısından kaynaklı modifiyeli egzozu sayesinde dizelden alışık olmadığımız bir ses tınısı sağlıyor. Sesi gerçekten yavru bir GTR'i andırıyor. Videoda ayrıca aracın kronik sorunlarına ve masraflarına değindik. Yakıt tüketimi çoğunuzu şaşırtıcak derecede hacimine göre az olması gerçekten güzel bir nokta. Videodaki aracımız Quattro ve allroad modeli olmasada, araçta ek donanım olarak allroad'a ait paraçlar mevcut, bunlar bir uyum içinde olması için Utku ek olarak dodikler eklmiş araca.
